Department of Public Health Dentistry is that dynamic branch which emphasizes on preventing and controlling dental diseases and promoting dental health through organized community efforts. It is that form of dental practice that serves the community as a patient rather than the individual. Department of Public Health Dentistry at Yogita Dental College and Hospital offers services that are concerned with the dental health education of the public, with applied dental research, and with the administration of group dental care programs, as well as the prevention and control of dental diseases on a community basis.
It also offers tobacco cessation counselling at Tobacco Cessation Centre (TCC). Department carters to the oral health needs using mobile dental van and portable dental equipment in community as well as school oral health camps. Patients are offered basic oral health services at camps while referring patients requiring specialty services to the college. Faculty of this department has broad knowledge and skills in public health administration, research methodology, the prevention and control of oral diseases, and the delivery oral health services.
