Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry is one of the most versatile branches of specialized dentistry and as a discipline it deals with providing primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral healthcare to infants and children through adolescence. At Yogita Dental College and Hospital, the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry is well equipped with following sections- OPD area, Clinical area for both undergraduates as well as postgraduates students, play area for children , patient waiting room, RVG room, laboratory area, counselling area and sterilization room. A collaborative effort has been undertaken with the special schools, to detect dental disease in its initial stages and to provide anticipatory guidance to parents of children with special needs. This is in addition to the special needs clinic in the department of Pedodontics.
There has also been a synergistic effort undertaken with the different rural schools to decrease the incidence of dental decay among children with dental problems. Free treatment camps continued training program for parents as well as teachers are also been scheduled as a part of the early intervention program to reach corners of konkan.
